We’re having Himself’s special for dinner tonight … baked tofu, brown rice, carrots and kale.

It was when I realized I was looking FORWARD to it that I got scared.

I need a Ho-Ho.

  1. SURE! – The recipe is of the former Mrs. Himself’s and is the best way to counter any healthy effects tofu may have that I know of…

    2 one pound blocks of Extra FIrm tofu, rinsed and patted dry with a paper towel,
    butter, nutritional yeast, Spike (Gaylord Hauser product with salt), garlic granules, paprika, and soy sauce.

    Preheat oven to 350. Oil cookie sheets with butter wrappers saved in the freezer! Slice tofu into 3/16″ thick slices or so and arrange on cookie sheets. On the first side put a dash or two of soy sauce, some garlic granules, Spike, a 1/4 tsp yeast or so, a 1/4 pat of butter and a couple taps of paprika.

    Bake for 15 minutes. Oven is steamy so when you open it to turn them over, watch out!

    turn them with a spatula and put butter, yeast and paprika on the other side and bake until done – (sometimes up to 1/2 hour)

    Leftovers are great sandwich fodder with mayo!

    I usually serve it with brown rice with gomashio, and steamed kale and carrots.
