a study in contrasts

Two stories from CNN.com caught my eye today.

First, I give you the Man of the Hour, Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III, the pilot hero who safely guided USAir Flight 1549 into the Hudson River after a bird strike and undoubtedly averted untold numbers of casualties with his skill and professionalism.

His resume is impressive. His expertise in the field of aviation safety and skill as a pilot is unrivaled. He looks like David Niven, and I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that in his spare time he sits first chair trumpet with a semi-professional orchestra, has 3 patents to his name and is working on his seventh best-selling book.

I think I love him.

Then there’s Boy George.

Sent to jail today for 15 months for “falsely imprisoning a male escort”.

On second thought, forget about Boy George.

Thank you, Sully!

BTW, impressed with the power of citizen journalism and new media. I learned about the crash minutes after it happened on Twitter, and check out this incredible photo from twitter user and ferry passenger @jkrums.
