I learned on Thursday, August 18th, that my brother Mike had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Texas.
Mike had been in constant severe pain since his helicopter crashed in the Persian Gulf in 1987. He was receiving medical care from the VA, and had undergone several unsuccessful operations.
With God’s grace, he’s now at peace.
If you care to do something, we suggest a donation to the Fisher House Foundation. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
